Artist Bio
Dennise Gackstetter is an artist, educator, and writer. She has lived a very migratory life. Her wanderings have taken her many places across the country and around the world. She is an accomplished ceramic artist whose work has been exhibited in many venues throughout the country.
Her artmaking skills and studio art experiences include ceramics, sculpture, hand-bound books, journal making, drawing, mixed media, and creative writing. She has conducted classes and workshops for learners of all ages at community art centers, public schools, and universities around the world including Japan, Cuba, and Czech Republic.
A dedicated yogini and meditation practitioner, Dennise is a 500 hour certified yoga instructor with the International Yoga Alliance. These contemplative practices directly inform her art making, teaching, and daily life. Dennise often combines mindfulness in her art making workshops to promote mental health and well-being.
Recently retired from Utah State University, Dennise was a Principal Lecturer in Art Education and the Art Education Coordinator. She was a part of the Writing Team for the new Utah Core Fine Art Standards.
Dennise is available to do art classes and workshops for persons of all ages. She is also available for professional development workshops for teachers on curriculum development, state standards, visual thinking strategies, arts and wellness, and mindfulness in the classroom.
