Artist Bio
Sculptor and Mexican artisan Rafael Leos Gonzalez has a Bachelors Degree in Law, his Masters Degree in Public Administration, and a PhD in Education.
He has been working in the visual arts since 2000, specializing in pre-Hispanic sculpture and stone painting. He takes concepts from the art of that time and expresses it in his work. He has done work with Rockford Science and Technology Academy students in Rockford, Illinois. Currently, Rafael is currently working at Christine Duncan Heritage Academy as an art teacher for K-8 grade students, teaching visual arts, including painting, carving, sculpting and and the use of other materials to help cultivate a love of art among students. He can tailor his classes for all ages and abilities. Rafeal has the k-8 teacher license in New Mexico State, level 3.
Rafael brings his love of the arts and culture to the classroom. He believes that the visual arts are extremely important for the intellectual development of individuals, and he likes to teach people to embrace art as part of their lives and not just as a project with an ending. Rafael works with the idea that art helps children to develop their senses in an important way.
