“A few brush strokes can create the illusion of something real. I like to show the strokes so that the magic of the tool can be seen up close, and then transform as you stand back. This series of paintings are various takes on common things and places that you might walk past every day around the Salt Lake Valley.
Most of my paintings are finished in one day, using one paintbrush. The style depends on the subject and the mood. You have probably noticed the heavy influence of impressionists like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and others from that period. I paint what is around me—from the struggling native flora along our hillsides to the pets and wildlife next door. Some of my subjects are things you might see every day and some you won’t. But all are fascinating subjects for me.”

About the Artist
Lucky Tuck was born on a small farm in the Salt Lake Valley. He left home at 16 years old and found his way to Los Angeles, where he lived in his car and began working on illustrations and designs for various ad agencies. That work took him to Japan for several years and then to Europe. He came back to Salt Lake City to retire, sculpt, and paint.
