The Utah Division of Arts & Museums recently recognized seven departing members of its board and advisory council for a combined 44 years of dedicated service. Their invaluable contributions were celebrated by staff and fellow board members, who shared the following reflections on their impact:
- Susan Adams (2021-2025): Susan commendably led the Senate High School Visual Arts Competition, overseeing its successful merger with the Annual Springville High School Exhibition. She was a steadfast advocate for the arts and museums community throughout her tenure.
- Lisa Arnett (2017-2025): From her initial engagement, Lisa was an exceptional champion of the division’s work. Her consistently positive and encouraging demeanor was a source of great validation for the staff.
- Diana Call (2017-2025): Diana consistently demonstrated a willingness to assist wherever needed, from serving on the executive committee to participating in various task forces. Her unique perspective from Southern Utah and deep insights into the museum community were highly valued.
- Larry Cesspooch (2021-2025): Larry provided essential insights as an accomplished filmmaker, storyteller, and artist. His crucial rural perspective, representing and advocating for Eastern Utah, was a significant asset to the board.
- Sudha Kargi (2021-2025): Sudha played a vital role as a board representative on numerous grant panels, contributing to the enhancement of the division’s processes. Her ability to integrate her artistic, leadership, and business acumen was highly appreciated by the board.
- Heidi Prokop (2017-2025, Chair 2022-2024): As a committed board member and former chair, Heidi was a tireless advocate for Utah’s arts and museums community. Her guidance on strategic planning, communication, and marketing initiatives will be greatly missed.
- Natalie Young (2017-2025): Natalie enriched the board and the state with her literary talents and leadership skills. Her profound knowledge of the literary world, particularly concerning Southern Utah, proved immensely valuable to both the board and staff.
